Mark is the founder and only remaining member of the original Aces High
band
that dates back to September of 1994. Mark had spent a year as lead singer and
front man for local band, High Caliber and after parting ways with them, Mark
decided to start his own project. While looking for the right musicians for this
new group, he began working with a local band called “Steel -n- Hearts.” Mark
enjoyed his time with them, but he knew he was looking for a different sound.
Eventually, Mark found the players he was looking for and Aces High was born.
For over two years they enjoyed the success that came with the mid-90s country
craze. Then in 1997, with several members graduating from college and moving on
to start their careers, the band broke up and Mark moved on to work on new
projects.
After playing in a couple different groups, moving to Chicago and returning to
Nebraska, Mark decided to resurrect the Aces High name and start a whole new
project. In May of 2002, a group of musicians gathered in Mark’s garage and as
he puts it, “the sound just seemed to come together.” Three weeks later, they
played their first show. Mark says, “It was a shaky start at best, but we made
it through.” The group went on to gain popularity and build a solid reputation
for playing great Country Music. In early 2005, the group started going through
what Mark calls “growing pains.” The band would see several members come and go
over the next few months, but hard work and perseverance won out. Along with the
member changes came a new look, a new attitude, a new show and a new name.
In September of 2005, the name was changed to “Mark Keaton & Aces High.” Armed
with great musicians, a brand new show and an excitement that fans have come to
expect, Mark is looking forward to setting a new standard for success in the
local Country Music scene.
